The 2010 Bell Sens Soiree Carnival Mystique, the premier fundraising event of the Sens Foundation, was held at the Hilton Lac-Leamy Convention Centre in Gatineau, Que.This year's event, was themed "carnival mystique - fame, fortune and mystery," featured entertainment by aerial dance circus company A2D2 along with Juno award winner Bob DeAngelis and Music Spectrum. As an added bonus, all guests were invited to attend this year's After Party featuring live music and dancing.
Guests had an opportunity to try out their skills at various carnival games, with Senators president Cyril Leeder and his wife, Lydia, joining the players and their partners as celebrity hosts for the event. Sens Foundation president, Danielle Robinson, and Bell vice-president of professional services, Gary Cameron, were also on hand to greet guests as they joined together in support of local healthcare institutions. Those in attendance had the chance to bid on spectacular auction items and enjoy a gourmet meal prepared by one of the finest chefs in the region. More than 700 guests attended the evening, which is considered one of the region's premier social events.
Since 1992, the Ottawa Senators and the Sens Foundation, through their annual dinner/soiree event, have provided more than $2.2 million to charities in the region. This year's event raised funds for child and youth programs at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), CSSS de Gatineau Foundation, Royal Ottawa Hospital Foundation, Queensway Carleton Hospital, Ottawa Rotary Home and Roger's House.
In May 2006, Bell and the Sens Foundation announced a commitment to raise $1 million for CHEO over five years. The 2010 Bell Sens Soiree is one of the key events that will help Bell and the Sens Foundation fulfil their million-dollar goal.
