CMHC Supports Habitat for Humanity

Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation’s (CMHC) sixth-annual gingerbread house competition kicked off the festive season this year, raising funds to help Habitat for Humanity build homes for families in need in the National Capital Region

More than 20 local businesses, bakeries and restaurants participated in the gingerbread house design competition, which was held at the Rideau Centre. Awards for the best designed gingerbread homes were presented by a panel of judges, including Mark Salerno, CMHC Corporate Representative; Elizabeth Rock, President of Habitat for Humanity NCR; and Sheila Brady, Ottawa Citizen Homes Editor. Cash prizes of $1,000; $500 and $250 were awarded for first, second and third place, respectively.

Local media teams also competed against each other, in a separate competition to build and decorate gingerbread homes.

Everyone had a blast and it supported a great cause, good job everyone.
